Larry Harold Wolfe, age 82, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025.
Born in Massillon to the late Harold and Lois (Mock) Wolfe, Larry faced loss early in life when his mother passed away from cancer while he was still a young boy. His father later married Pearl Thomas, who lovingly helped raise him and became like a second mother.
Larry graduated from Washington High School alongside his high school sweetheart, Sharon, whom he later married and built a beautiful life with until she unfortunately passed of esophageal cancer in 2017. He began his career at Massillon Container of Navarre, where he was even his wife's boss - though only at work, as he liked to joke. He later continued his career at Central States Can in Massillon, where he worked until his retirement.
Larry and Sharon were inseparable. Together they enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach, Tennessee, and Newport News, Virginia to visit his beloved Aunt Jeanne Kent and cousin Nancy. They loved road trips to Amish Country, browsing craft shows, attending the Thursday Night Massillon Cruise-In Car Shows, and cheering on the Massillon Tiger football team.
After Sharon's passing, Larry found renewed joy in his great-grandsons, beginning with Ollie. Outings with Ollie to Fazoli's, Golden Corral, and CiCi's Pizza brightened his hardest days. With the arrival of several more great-grandboys, Larry's heart was full whenever they came to visit.
Larry was known for his tough exterior and quick opinions, but those who knew him best saw his big heart beneath it all. He loved his family deeply, even if he didn't always say it out loud. Sundays spent watching football with Cole or Cody were among his happiest times - especially when it meant debating Steelers vs. Browns games. Though quick to give his sons Brian and Barry a hard time over several of their life decisions, he was deeply proud of their accomplishments, even if he didn't always admit it. He also relied on the care and persistence of Debi, whose guidance and encouragement helped him live longer and stronger than he might have otherwise.
Larry is survived by his sons Barry (Debi) Wolfe and Brian (Jennifer) Wolfe; grandchildren Cody (Angela) Wolfe and their son Oliver; Cole (Erica) Wolfe and their sons Paxton and Baker; Blake (Kelsey) Wolfe and their children Kara, Deacon, and Grady; and Nickolas Wolfe. He is also survived by his beloved Aunt Jeanne Kent, cousins Nancy (Stewart) Swilley and David Wolfe Kent, and many dear friends and neighbors who became like family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sharon Wolfe, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Both his mom, dad, & stepmom Pearl.
Per Larry's request, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held, and he kindly asked that flowers not be sent. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution in his wife's honor - Sharon Wolfe for Esophageal Cancer Research at https://www.ecaware.org/give/donate/ or simply share a kind memory of him here on the Tribute Wall.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Grace Ayafor of Summa Health Cardiology - Tallmadge, Dr. Kerrie David, the staff of Amherst Meadows Nursing Home (especially nurses Debbie & Bryn), the therapy staff at Amherst Meadows, and his neighbors at his apartment complex - Chris & Mallory Matie, Erin & Natasha Hensley, and Sam Hensley, best landlord a man could ask for, as well as the Jackson Township paramedics and EMTs for their quick and compassionate care.
