LaRue Mays Obituary

LaRue accepted Christ at a young age where he was actively involved in a host of ministries throughout his life. He attended Austin Independent School District as a child, and then went on to receive a higher education degree from Huston-Tillotson College in Political Science. After college, he began his career at State Farm Insurance as a Claims Adjuster for 18 years. He continued his employment at One Gas where he spent many years as a Customer Service Specialist before being promoted to Project Management.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, and stepfather, Joe Coley. He was survived by his Wife, Cathy Overton-Mays, to this union were three stepchildren Lenise Mayberry (Richard), Latrice Martu (Boniface), and Cornell Johns. His children, Tiffany, Alesha, Courtney, and Christian Mays from two previous unions. He was also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory. LaRue had a heartfelt love for music by leading and singing in the choir, he also participated in band during high school. LaRue enjoyed watching football, barbecuing, fishing, and spending time with family.

I'm saddened to find out about Mr. Larue's passing. I didn't know him but I just watched him on Family Fued. He was GREAT! I was born in Austin, Texas.

Our Dear Cousin, LaRue, was a joy to be around. We enjoyed the years that he came to the family reunions as a young father. He was the twinkle in his mother's eyes. He was truly loved by the family.
