Lathan Carlyle Brown, eighty-seven years old, peacefully passed away July 31st, 2025 at his home in Terry, Mississippi surrounded by loved ones. He died from complications resulting from his battle with Parkinson's Disease over the past several years.
He was born August 21st, 1937 to the late Dessie Myrle and Lloyd Brown of Bruce, Mississippi.
Lathan was the beloved husband and best friend of his one and only love of nearly sixty-eight years, Bunnie Brown. The devoted father of Carl Brown (wife Jackie) and Gina Brown Scott (husband James P.). The doting grandfather of Olivia Brown, Courtney Scott Sumrall (Scott), Cassidy Leigh Upton (Chance), Nikki Scott (Tucker), and Alex Mangieri. The VERY proud and loving great grandfather of Carter Sumrall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Dessie Myrle Brown and brother, Homer Brown (wife Wilma). He is survived by siblings, Dwight Brown (wife Donna) and Judy Caples (husband Philip).
Lathan graduated from Bruce High School, Class of 1955. He served in the United States Army for two years. He enjoyed his work as a wholesale florist manager for over forty years.
Lathan was an active member of Highpointe Baptist Church in Raymond, Mississippi. He loved music and often sang in church. He greatly enjoyed bowling, listening to music, and working in his garden.
Lathan will be remembered by family and friends for his kindness, his thoughtful nature, his sense of fun, his love of life and his love for his savior, Jesus Christ.
