It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, Laura Elizabeth Pemberton-Baker, age 44, on July 16. Taken from us far too soon, Laura was a bright light, full of compassion. Her kind spirit and fierce love for her family and friends left an imprint on everyone she met.

Born on August 20, 1980, in Huntington, WV, Laura brought joy from the very beginning. She was a proud graduate of Huntington High School and went on to attend Marshall University. During her time at Marshall, she became a cherished member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, forming lifelong bonds and embracing the values of sisterhood and service. Laura was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where her faith and kind heart were evident in all she did.

Above all, Laura was a loving mother to her three children- Alexavier Kempe Barham, Dominick Hayman Barham, and Makaila Elizabeth Baker- who were the greatest joys of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Carl Hayman and Elizabeth Creigh Pemberton and sister Alicia (Brian) Farley. She was the best Aunt/Ya-Ya to nephews Tycho (Hannah), Gabe (Cori) and Collin and nieces Addyson and Delaney, who will forever cherish her memory and the time they shared together. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly. Laura is preceded in death by her grandparents, Buck and Ruth Thompson and Lawrence and Faye Pemberton.

A visitation will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, located at 721 12th Avenue, Huntington, on Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 11 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12 PM. Burial will follow and take place at Woodmere Memorial Park. All who knew and loved Laura are welcome to attend. To honor Laura's memory, guests are encouraged to wear something purple, her favorite color, to celebrate her joyful life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a WesBanco account in care of Carl and Creigh Pemberton for Makaila.
