Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - South Jordan from Nov. 14 to Nov. 15, 2025.
Our daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Laura Eve Breinholt passed away in the early hours of November 12, 2025, the morning after the Aurora Borealis could be seen all across the world.
She was born June 19, 1988 in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and joined our family in December of 1991 with her sister Melinda. Her autistic personality gave her several gifts; probably the most prominent is her ability to love animals and relate to them in a special way. Horses are her favorite.
She taught many how to love without judgment, to forgive quickly, and she unwittingly exposed our need to work harder and do better. She came to us with a little brain damage and experienced some cognitive challenges because of this, but she never allowed it to stop her from being and doing all she could possibly do.
She loves weather, especially storms, and captured many pictures of sunsets on her "precious" iPad, which was another love of hers, as well as other electronic devices. She loves camping, especially at Moon Lake with her family. She has a wonderful sense of humor and loved to prank and laugh with her family and loved ones.
When she moved out of our home, she stayed in different places, but her favorite was her current home in Lehi, where she lived until last Wednesday morning. She had caregivers who truly saw her and loved her for who she was and treated her as a peer as well as kept her safe while dealing with some of the challenges she had with day-to-day life. She felt their love, and she was very perceptive of the feelings of those around her.
She has a lot of faith in the power of prayer and although she struggled with saying prayers herself, she often requested others to pray for her, especially in situations that she had no control over. At times she mentioned how she was looking forward to her resurrection when her body would be perfect and not hold her back.
She left her parents, Wally and Beth Breinholt, brothers and sisters Jake Breinholt (Brittany), Sam Breinholt (Rachel), Sarah McCarron (Jessie), Peter Breinholt (Kristin), Mimi Rogers (John) and Melinda Lyon (Thomas). She was close to many of her nieces and nephews, and some of her cousins, and she inspired many of them to pursue their careers as caregivers for those with intellectual disabilities.
It feels impossible to say thank you enough to those many people who have touched her life for the better in so many ways. It is impossible to mention you all by name, but we feel you know who you are, and so does Laura.
A Visitation of Honor will be held in her behalf on November 20, 2025 in
South Jordan, Utah at 1239 W. Country Creek Drive, (the red church, come in the south door) from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Casual or Western wear are welcome.
In lieu of flowers consider donating to an animal shelter of your choice in her name.
