In Loving Memory of Laura Marie Franklin
A Tribute to a Wonderful Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother
Laura Marie Franklin left from this world on June 14th, 2025, at the age of 66. Laura was a devoted wife of 23 years to her husband, David Franklin. Laura and David were residents Indianapolis, Indiana since 2003. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and unforgettable memories for her family to cherish and remember her by.
Laura was born on November 2nd, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri but grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles and Janet "Ginger" (Mason) Lane, her maternal grandparents, Dr. William and Mary (McAndrews) Mason and paternal grandparents Dr. Charles Henry and Ora (Cox) Lane and Nephew Matthew Akerly.
Laura's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren from her first marriage are Carolyn (Steve) Walker, grandchildren: Madyson (Brenden) Larson, great grandkids Arbor and Adonis Mackenzie (Matt Kniffen) Walker, grandkids Laylen, Reign, Sawyer, Baylor Jake (Greta Vande Lune) Walker Great grandchildren Hayes and Haley Walker, Daughter Christina Fettkether and granddaughter Ayanna Fettkether, great grandchildren Mehlani and Kairo, granddaughter Asia Arnold, daughter Meagan (Shane) Patterson and daughter Bridget Fettkether, grandson Kam.
Laura is survived by her two Stepdaughters, Andrea (Tim) Schaaf and their sons, Samuel and Miles, and Ashley McGhee and her son Kenneth Steadham and daughter Leonora McGhee.
She is also survived by her sister, Linda Lane, brother William "Pat" Lane, his daughter Debbie (Zach) Herold, her children Ada and Ella, Tony (Melissa) Akerly, Sam McCumpsey (Drake) brother Charles "Chuck" (Ida Holiday) Stepson James and daughters Ashley and Anna Mike Lane-son Christopher John Lane son-Trevor, sister Lisa (Brian) Ralston their son Brandon Lane, his children Oliver and Lily Chase (Carley) Ralston, and sister Liana Lane-Hines.
Laura life centered on her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would love to facetime them on her media devices. She deeply loved all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.. She will forever be their guardian angel in Heaven looking after them and showering them with love. She also loved and cared for all her pets that she adopted over the years. Sasha and Scout will miss her everyday and Sabra, Frankie Dog, and Junior will forever be at her side to protect her
A memorial service for Laura will on July 15th, 2025, 3:00 PM at the Northwood Christian Church's Chapel Annex, 4550 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana.

You were the best big sister, truly one of a kind, I will miss you tremendously!! It has taken me so long to write on here because I don´t want say goodbye, with your memorial coming up I have had to face that this is real and it hurts all over again! I will cherish all my memories of you for the rest of my life , since I don´t want to say goodbye I will say , I love you , until we meet again! I will see you on the other side!!
