Laura Lee McClung

Laura Lee McClung, age 44, of Sparta, passed away early Sunday morning, January 5, 2025.
On July 17, 1980, Laura was born in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of Ronald D. and Lou Ann (Darnell) Ricker. She graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1998. She enjoyed athletics and participated in track, cross country and basketball.
Laura worked from home as a collection agent for Discover. She was a hard worker and did her best to make ends meet and ensure her loved ones were well taken care of.
Laura loved spending time in the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting. Her favorite hobby though, was her love of shopping. She always found good deals at Gabe's and had rooms full of clothes.
Above all, Laura treasured her family. She looked forward to family gatherings, appreciating every moment with her loved ones. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she adored spending time with them.
Laura will be remembered for her wild, carefree spirit and her ability to live life on her own terms. She embraced her world fully, and those who knew her were lucky to be part of it.
Left to cherish Laura's memory are her four children: Gunnar (Mackenzie Myers) Etue, Larissa (Collin Ratliff) Etue, Joleen (Zackary Pealer) Etue, Zoe McClung; seven grandchildren: Sophia, Kingston, Hudsyn, Braxton, Kopelyn, Waylon, Saige; another grandchild on the way, Ronie; her parents, Ronald and Lou Ricker; sister, Cresha (Todd) Louks; brother, Ronald D. (Heather) Ricker Jr.; her very best friends: Katy McClung, Samantha Manning; and her special Golden Retriever, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Ricker.
Laura's family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338. Services and a time of sharing to honor and celebrate her life will begin there at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Doyle Peyton officiating.
