Laura Ann Ramey age 75, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Ann was born in Rome, Georgia, on May 8, 1950, to the late Albert Gilmore and Laura Mae Mize Gilmore. After the passing of her biological parents, she was lovingly raised by her adoptive parents, Elizabeth "Betty" Higgins and the late Herman Alvin Higgins, Sr.

Ann dedicated many years of service to Northwest Regional Hospital before retiring. She cherished her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Ann found happiness in the simple pleasures-watching hummingbirds, camping, tending to flowers and gardens, and creating beautiful cross-stitch and sewing projects for her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and traveling, with Disney World being one of her favorite destinations.

Ann will be remembered most for the way she loved-with her whole heart-and for being a loyal and devoted friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: James "Jim" Gilmore, Margie Collins, Willie Fay McLeod, and Kathy Lee Keiser.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Higgins; her son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Becky Ramey; her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Chris Shelly; her grandchildren, Noah Shelly, Emma and Evan Waits, Triston Ramey, Madison Ramey, and Kendall Ramey; and her great-grandson, Colton Waits. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Herman Higgins, Jr. and Carol Higgins; her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Robert Fowler; and her brother-in-law, Kenny Keiser. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

A private celebration of life will be held.
