Laura Michelle Rincón, born on December 5, 1994 in Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025 in Detroit, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones.
After high school graduation, Laura went on to obtain her Associate's degree and pursue a career in teaching. Laura's ability to guide her students and make a positive impact on their lives was a special gift and one of her strongest passions. She was a teacher at her core, always supporting and lifting up those around her to be the best possible versions of themselves. Laura was also an incredible pianist, violinist, and vocalist, and was planning to return to school for music. Her dream was to blend her passions for teaching and music into a life-long career supporting neurodivergent children through music therapy.
To say Laura was kind, determined, and compassionate would fall far short of reality. Always the first to help others and do what's right, she brought so much light and love into this world and tirelessly devoted herself to others. Many say they wish to leave the world a better place than how they found it, and Laura can rest peacefully knowing she did just that. In all of the roles she held in her life, she always showed up the same way: as a beautiful human, a kind soul, and an open heart.
Laura is survived by her loving parents, Jose and Martha, her devoted husband Zachary, her dear siblings Christina and Michael (Silvana), and nieces and nephews Myra, Gabe, Makayla, and Daniel. She will also be missed by her grandmother, Maria de los Angeles, as well as her many tías (aunts), tíos (uncles), cousins, and friends.
Laura's memory lives on through her two beautiful children, Liliana and Miles, who both share her heart of spreading love, light, and laughter to others. Laura will always be remembered as an incredible mother who continually strove to raise Liliana and Miles in a healthy, happy, and loving home.
Laura will be remembered and celebrated on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm EDT at the Edward Korkoian Funeral Home in Royal Oak, Michigan. Those who desire will have the opportunity to share some words or stories about Laura beginning at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to contribute to Laura's legacy may donate to her children's futures by going to https://www.ugift529.com/ and entering in the Ugift codes of 842-A54 (Liliana) and U3C-B79 (Miles) when prompted.
Her family also plans to begin a foundation in her name and honor that will support music therapy programs for neurodivergent children. While we await the foundation's formal creation, please contact Laura's husband, Zach, or her sister, Christina, if you wish to contribute to her legacy in that way.
"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." - J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
Spanish translation:
- J.R.R. Tolkien, El Señor de los Anillos
