Laura Anne Scanlon, 51, of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, passed away
peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Laura was born February
23, 1972, in Takoma Park, Maryland to Thomas and Willie Mae Scanlon.
Laura grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. She was the youngest of eight
children. She graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1990 and
attended Prince Georges Community Collage and earned her degree for
Early Childhood Education in 1992. After earning her degree, she worked
at the following Day Care centers: Cheverly Hospital Daycare, Creative
Children Center in Fort Meade, and Planned Learning in Annapolis. At the
same time, she worked a second job as an Assistant Manager at the
following: Pier 1, Children’s Place, and the last 6 years at Dollar Tree in
Annapolis.
She enjoyed traveling with her mother and her sister Terri. She loved
watching football, namely the Dallas Cowboys. She loved to eat crabs,
spend time with family and shopping at Walmart.
Laura joins in heaven her father, Thomas I. Scanlon, Jr, a brother, Michael,
a sister, Kathleen, and brother-in-law, Gino Coronica.
Laura is survived by her mother, Willie Mae Scanlon of Seat Pleasant, MD;
Terri Coronica (sister) of Seat Pleasant, MD; her three brothers, Thomas I
Scanlon III and wife Donna of Chesapeake Beach, MD; James Scanlon
and wife Laurie of North Beach, MD; Joseph Scanlon and wife Tina of
North Beach, MD; and Margaret Scanlon (sister) of Silver Spring, MD; as
well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
