Laura “Elladene” Sinclair, 93, of Waverly, WV, departed this life to her heavenly home, on December 31, 2025, at the Harmar Place Community. She was born on August 27, 1932 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Later, she would go on to graduate from Williamstown High School. For many years, she belonged to the Farm Bureau with her husband, Haskell. Elladene’s employment included working at the State Road Commission, the Sheriff’s office, the Assessor’s office, and the A.B. Chance Company where she retired after almost thirty years of service.
Elladene loved to cook, sew, crochet, quilt, and try any other crafts that came her way. She was always trying something new and would help (and believe) that others could do the same. She loved her family very much and would do anything for them.
She is survived by one son, Randall (Brenda) Sinclair of West Milford, West Virginia; one granddaughter, Heather (Tom) Rowan of Walker, West Virginia; one grandson, Scott (Tasha) Sinclair of Fairmont, West Virginia; and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Lucas Rowan, whom she loved and cherished spending time with.
Elladene was preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy-one years, Haskell Sinclair, Jr.; her parents, Tom and Laura Forshey of Waverly, West Virginia; her sisters, Elsie Forshey, Edna Merrill, Ethel Newell, Gladys Lynch and Roseanna Green; her brothers, Willard Green, Dillard Green, George Green, Everett Green, and Elmer Green; along with several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Haskell and Pauline Sinclair who were so kind to her and treated her like their own daughter. Pauline acted as a mother, a sister, and a best friend to Elladene. She always treasured their relationship.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cawley and Cawley Hospice for the excellent care and compassion they showed towards Elladene, during her final months. The family would also like to thank Harmar Place Community for making her last days comfortable, and the staff at The Pines at Glenwood, for her days of assisted living.
Lastly, we want to thank her amazing caregivers, Joan Kiggans and Kayla Waggy, for loving Grams and treating her like their own grandmother. They both were lights and companions to her, in her final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in loving memory of Elladene, to Crossroads Church.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg with Pastor John Frum. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
