With hearts filled with both sorrow and hope, we celebrate the life of Laura Mae Woods, who fell asleep in death on June 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Laura was born on May 30, 1943, and was the beloved daughter of Ruby Dominick and Douglas Ruff, who preceded her in death.
Laura was a graduate of Gallman High School. She loved her family, was known to ensure that they always knew she loved them. She loved to shop and to care for her garden in her spare time. Laura became a faithful servant of Jehovah on June 17, 2007 and was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newberry, South Carolina. She lived her life grounded in her faith, demonstrating love, kindness, and endurance.
Also preceding her were her siblings, Johnny D, George, Willie, Evelyn, Rhudine, Juanita, Bernice and Betty, as well as her loving husband Wayne W. Woods & her grandson Bruce Dequan Garrison. Though she is no longer with physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Laura leaves behind a lasting legacy in her family, who will continue to cherish her memory: sons: Freddie Senn (Linda), Marcus Senn (Dena); Daughters: Ruby Felicia Smith, Stephanie Senn Boozer (Kenneth), Tamiko Lewis (Reginald); sister-in-law: Deborah Woods; Aunts: Rosabelle Clark, Berneatha Richardson; nieces and nephews whom she shared a special bond with: Dena Cleaves, Valarie Dominick, Tyrone Senn (Natalie), and Ryan Senn; 14 Grandchildren: 23 Great-grandchildren: 23 Great-great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great grandchild: Spiritual sisters: Wilma Tribble, Vanessa Clark, Rachel Etheridge; Spiritual Son: Delbert Bowers; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her warm smile, generous heart, and strong faith left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1907 Dixie Drive, Newberry, SC 29108.
