Shane Pierce Robinson

Our beloved son, Shane Robinson, was struck and killed while riding his bike on the evening of October 28, 2025. He was 19 years old.
Shane's evening rides were his peaceful ritual, his time to breathe, reflect, and find joy in the rhythm of the road and the music he loved. Having struggled with his mental health throughout his short life, he was in such a good place mentally, embracing life with calm and gratitude. That quiet strength, that gentle spirit, was Shane through and through.
Shane was a bright light from the start-curious, kind, and deeply empathetic. He had a gift of gab with strangers, friends and family alike, whether through a thoughtful conversation about his Cryptic Club, a shared meme or laugh, or a simple act of kindness. His passions ranged from creating the costumes he wore daily, music, Norse mythology, Bigfoot (and other cryptids) to anime and creative writing, each reflecting his soulful, intentional way of moving through the world.
Shane's life was a beautiful one, lived with purpose and heart. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who cherished him, and a community forever changed by his presence. Living on the autism spectrum came with its own challenges for Shane, particularly when it came to feeling a true sense of belonging. But in Newberry, he found just that. From the moment he arrived a little over a year ago, the community welcomed him with open arms-and at Genesis, he found a place where he was not only accepted, but genuinely embraced.
Shane was immensely proud of his family and spoke of them with deep love and admiration. His dad, Scott Robinson, was his personal legend-a "famous magician" in Shane's eyes, full of wonder and wisdom. His mom, Janet Smith Robinson, was his fierce protector, his "Mama bear," always in his corner no matter what. He looked up to his uncle, Charles Robinson, a respected WWE referee, with genuine admiration and awe. Shane adored his sister, Jessica Robinson Bartniski, and her husband, John Bartniski, whom he lovingly called "real-life superheroes" for their dedication to healthcare and helping others.
A memorial will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:30 pm at The Old Newberry Hotel, 1110 Caldwell St Suite 208, Newberry, SC, 29108.
