Laurane was born Laurane Catherine Teddiman in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on August 16, 1928. She was the youngest of four children of Cecil and Ruth Teddiman.
Laurane was a gifted singer and loved music. In her early years, she studied music while working as a law office secretary. She sang for the Detroit Light Opera Company (Soprano) until tragedy struck in the form of tuberculosis. She was quarantined in a sanitorium (per the protocol at the time) for two years while she received treatment and recovery. After returning home, she worked as a secretary at Chrysler of Canada. Although tuberculosis ended her singing career, she continued to sing all her life, whether at home or performing solos at her church where her voice resonated through the sanctuary.
Laurane met her husband Wendell Bashore at her sister's wedding where she was a bridesmaid and he was the best man. They were married for 61 years until Wendell's death in 2015. She is survived by two sons and a daughter: Paul, Mark, and Wendy, and two grandchildren Jason Bashore and Matthew Gigante.
Laurane's unshakable faith carried her through life, and she demonstrated that through her volunteering at her church, as well as Meals on Wheels and Lincoln Park Band Boosters. She also enjoyed sewing and playing piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Norma Vinson, Gordon Teddiman, and Helen Brush.
