Lauretta "Tigger" (LaSalvia) Power passed away surrounded by her children at Kent General Hospital on June 23, 2025 in Dover, DE at the age of 66.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Michael Paschal "Mike" Power Sr. of Delaware; her parents Generoso LaSalvia and Anna May Hock of New York; and her brother Generoso LaSalvia II of New York.
Lauretta is survived by her children, Michael P. Power Jr. of Dover, DE, Morgan E. Carlisle of Townsend, DE, and Megan P. Bhagwandeen-Power of Odessa, DE; Grandchildren Emrys R. Carlisle and Aiofe E. Carlisle; Nephews Generoso LaSalvia III and Leo LaSalvia of New York; half-sisters, Angela La Salvia Smalley of Florida and Linda (La Salvia) Silver Ryan of California.
Lauretta was born on December 26, 1958 in Mahopac, New York to Generoso LaSalvia and Anna May Hock. She graduated from Middleburgh HS in 1976 followed by State University of New York of Cobleskill, NY in 1979 and SUNY Oneonta State College with a Bachelor's degree in BS Business Economics and Accounting in 1989. She married Mike in 1981, having met on the school playground in Middleburgh one fateful night after finishing High School.
After moving to Cobleskill, NY, Lauretta began working as a nurse until the late 80's, and began a career as an accountant for H&R Block in the 90's. Over the next 5 years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their lives. In 1988, Lauretta and Mike bought their first house in Sidney, NY, where they remained until 1998. Lauretta was accomplished in the kitchen and enjoyed a wide assortment of crafts, sewing everything from clothes to holiday decorations. She passed along her passion for cooking and baking to all of her children, and her love of crafts to her daughters. Her children remember her as a caring mother who never hesitated to defend and teach them. Lauretta enjoyed spending evenings watching documentaries, learning along with her children.
She was an adventurous individual who loved the outdoors and who was passionate about gardening, camping, skiing and even went spelunking in her college days. Her children's fondest memories are of the many vacations taken with their parents. Be it camping, skiing, museums, amusement parks or trips to the Long Island beaches. Lauretta shared a deep love of music with Mike and her children, something that will be forever cherished.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish of Sidney, NY.
Lauretta chose to be directly cremated and to join her husband in a shared urn until such time as their ashes may be spread together in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree.
