Lauretta was born on July 30, 1924, to Hio and Anna (Harms) Heien in Onida, SD.

Lauretta was the final sibling to pass away. She grew up on the family farm in the Onida/Agar area along with her siblings Lenice, Alma, Helen, Ella, Ethel, Joseph, and Alvin until they lost the farm during the dirty 30's. They attended country school near Onida and went to high school in Pierre.

Lauretta was married to Glenn Scott on October 13, 1943 in Monterey, California, before he was shipped off to France to serve the US Army. They made their home in Vivian on the farm. Together they had four children: Carolyn, Dennis, Jeanette and Leslie. The family worked together on the farm. Lauretta was a traditional Pioneer woman. She cooked meals for her siblings & family. She was always very busy in the garden during the summer months and canning the fruits of her labor in the fall.

Lauretta was a member of the Vivian Lutheran Church where she spent many years quilting with the Happy Knitters along with other members of the community. She was also very active with the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Local Bridge club. She loved to bowl in her younger days. Her and Glenn spent many Saturday evenings dancing. Lauretta loved it when her nieces came to visit and they spent countless hours playing cards.

Lauretta is survived by her children: Dennis Scott (Angela) of Presho, Jeanette (Bill) Marshall of Rapid City, and Leslie (Debra) Scott of Vivian, 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as one sister-in-law Elaine Scott.

Lauretta was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, daughter Carolyn (Dwayne) Aske, grandson Bruce, great granddaughter Samantha, and all of her and Glenn's siblings.
