Laurice “Laurie” Kennard (nee Baldwin) was born in Sheridan, MI, in June 1932 to Clayton and Verol Baldwin, the fourth of seven children. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1950 and took some secretarial courses from Davenport College. She lived and worked in the Grand Rapids area, holding positions at Bell Telephone and at a doctor’s office, until her marriage to Bradley Kennard in 1969. She moved to Vassar with her husband and raised two adopted daughters.
Laurice went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2023 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, MI, after a short illness. She is preceded in death by her husband Bradley Kennard and her daughter Sharon Cunningham (nee Kennard), both of Vassar, MI. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Kennard of Cheboygan, MI, and her grandson Brian Cunningham of Vassar, MI. She was much loved and will be much missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage mourners to donate to their local library.
Laurie will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Riverside Cemetery, Vassar, MI.
