Laurie Ann Ryan, a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother, passed away peacefully after a life rich with accomplishment and passion. She was born on August 29, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Shirley Ruling.
Laurie was a proud graduate of Crown Point High School, Class of 1975, and went on to earn her degree from Indiana University (IU). She enjoyed a successful career in real estate before retiring in 2007.
An accomplished equestrian, Laurie was a fierce competitor in the western pleasure class, earning multiple state and tri-state awards throughout her riding career. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Parish.
Laurie had a vibrant personality and a flair for the beautiful things in life. She loved decorating for all holidays and had an undeniable passion for shopping, especially for purses, shoes, and jewelry. An avid and loyal sports enthusiast, she was a die-hard Pacer fan and never missed a game. Her deep love for her pets brought her immense joy.
Above all, Laurie cherished her family. She was her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, proudly attending all of their sporting events. Her grandchildren will forever remember her famed "treasure chest," always kept full of surprises and tokens of her love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arthur and Shirley Ruling, and her sister, Bonnie Ruling.
Laurie is survived by her devoted husband, Martin Ryan, of Greenwood; her daughter, Amy O'Brien (husband Derek); her son, Matthew Ryan (wife Monique); and her cherished grandchildren, Paisley and Landon O'Brien, of Greenwood, and Baby Girl Ryan, of Indianapolis.
