Laurie Ann VanTassel, 63, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, October 02, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Union Settlement Cemetery in West Monroe, where she will be laid to rest with her son.
Laurie Ann was born in Wisconsin on May 29, 1962 to Richard L. Markes and Loretta Holden. She was an animal lover, and enjoyed a good shopping trip.
Laurie Ann was a great cook, and loving mother. Her family always looked forward to meatballs, beef stew and other homemade meals. Christmas cookies and fudge were her signature during the holidays.
Besides her parents; Richard and Loretta, she is predeceased by her son; Michael Paul Darby, her godson; Jacob, her brother; Lawrence Markes, and her stepfather; Larry Holden.
Surviving is her children; Tyler VanTassel, Samantha Billings, and Zoe VanTassel; her sister; Lisa (Jay Hook) Merriman, father of her children; Timothy VanTassel, her best friend; Debbie Kowalski, as well as other extended family members
