Lavada Jane Stephenson English ran into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on August 31, 2025. Her life reflected a focus on trusting the LORD with all her heart. She loved to study her Bible and teach children and adults about God's Word. She was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas to Thomas and Mamie Stephenson. After growing up in Roswell, New Mexico and attending Eastern New Mexico University, she met and fell in love with her husband of 64 years, Parker. Lavada also attended University of Central Oklahoma where she got a degree in elementary education and obtained a master's degree from University of Oklahoma. Lavada taught 4th grade at Sooner Rose Elementary School and was a reading specialist at Country Estates Elementary School. After 25 years in the Mid Del district, she retired from a career where she loved working with children. Lavada was a member of Country Estates Baptist Church for over 60 years where she was a long time Bible Study teacher, committee member, and VBS volunteer. Participating in Bible Study Fellowship classes was a highlight. She also was a longtime member of the Mid Del Reading Council.

Lavada enjoyed traveling with Parker and her family. They especially loved trips to the mountains to relax and visited many National Parks. She loved visits to the Hawaiian Islands. Lavada leaves her son, Gary English and wife, Dawn; her daughter, Pam English Horst.

Grandchildren are Bradley Horst and wife, Gleysi; Rebekah Edwards and husband, Ben; Rachel Litsch and husband, Josh; David English; Elizabeth Schwartz and husband, Dan; Abigail Siwek and husband, Adam; and Benjamin English and wife, Isabella.

Great grandchildren are Parker Litsch, Noah Litsch, Heidi Litsch, Eleanor Horst, Lucy Edwards, Emilia Edwards, and Noah Siwek. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eva Bilbrey and son in law, Dr. Stanley Horst.

A celebration of Lavada's life will be 2:00 pm, Friday, September 5, 2025 at Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond. Memorials can be made to the Rainbow Room Class for individuals with special needs at Country Estates Baptist Church 1000 S. Midwest Blvd, Midwest City, OK 73110.
