Lavaughn Mynhier Engle, 82 passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky where she had made her home for the last several years. She was born March 18, 1942, in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Russell and Delphia Ison Mynhier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Jean Mynhier, Eula Dean Bathalter, Avanell Wright and Josephine Mynhier. Also, a son-in-law, Bernard Beamon.
Lavaughn had worked as a cashier at Battson Drug Store in Morehead for several years. She was a Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible, music, playing the guitar and organ, watching WLJC and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son Steve Switzer and his wife Lisa of Morehead, two daughters, Kim Beamon of Morehead and Tonya Trent Potter and her husband Michael of Salt Lick, Kentucky. One brother, William Darrell Mynhier of Louisa, Kentucky, two sisters, Pauletta Walters of Frenchburg and Mary Jo Thompson of Morehead. Six grandchildren, Derrick Courtney, Michael Switzer, Spencer Potter, Luke Potter, Nick Switzer and Ashton Beamon. Thirteen great-grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 12, 2024, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Cecil Ison officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Derrick Courtney, Michael Switzer, Spencer Potter, Luke Potter, Nick Switzer and Ashton Beamon.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 1:00 PM Friday until the hour of the service.
