Thelma Christine Johnson, 95, of Saline, Michigan, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Saline Evangelical Home with her family by her side.
She was born on December 3, 1929 in Elliottville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Amanda “Kate” (Nichols) Catron.
She married Ray Johnson in June 1949, and they moved to Michigan for work. They raised their family in Ypsilanti together until Ray preceded her in death on November 17, 1974.
Mrs. Johnson worked her career at Chrysler Automotive in Dexter, where she retired in 1981. She was a member of the Forrest Avenue Baptist Church and she loved quilting and gardening.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, and six sisters.
Survivors include her children: Shirley Johnson of Flat Rock, Michigan, Sue Little of Milan, Michigan, Glen (Maryann) Johnson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Gale Johnson of Morehead, and Crystal (Gary) Preiss of Ypsilanti, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 23, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery on Cornett Road.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 10:00 A.M. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
