On October 13, 2025, LaVern Lee (Oscar) Schultz was called to his savior’s arms with his loving family at his side.
Oscar was a loving husband, father, mentor, and friend. He was born January 28, 1952, to Walter and Viola (Grubaugh) Schultz.
On May 1, 1977, he met the love of his life, Debra Lynn Raddatz. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1982. Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family, going on vacations, riding his motorcycle, many car shows with family and friends, fishing with Trinity, traveling to Ohio and Arizona with Jessie, and many evenings were spent around a campfire reminiscing and telling stories.
By trade, Oscar was an autobody and auto painter, working for Femals and several years at Tim’s Auto Body. While working on cars for a living, he was the neighborhood mechanic and autobody repair. Oscar worked many years for MCC driving a dump truck and his last 10 years were driving truck for CHS (Country Visions) where he retired from.
He was the neighborhood handyman. Fixing various things such as welding on snowblowers, fixing lawn mowers, broken springs on a lift chair recliner to fixing leaky pipes. No job was too small or too big.
Along with his 2 children, his pride and joy was his 1956 Chevy Belair, which he owned since 1972. His latest joy was his granddaughter, Joselynn Lee. Their favorite past time was napping and bouncing her on his knee.
Oscar is survived by his wife, his children Jessie M. (Josh) Gauger – Freedom, WI and Trinity M. Schultz – Appleton, WI, granddaughter Joselynn L. Gauger, sisters Sally (Hayes) Blanton of Chicago, IL and Betty (Peter) Stone of Silver Cliff, WI, with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Melvin Schultz and sister-in-law Audrey Schultz of Appleton, WI, brother Lyle Schultz of Appleton, WI, sister Grace Bunting and brother-in-law Robert Bunting of New Sharon, IA, and niece Karen Bunting of Grinnell, IA.
A very special thank you to hospice for making his last days on earth comfortable ones. He passed with dignity and respect. Thank you to his doctors: Dr. Bovi in radiation, Dr. Valla in oncology, Dr. Johnson his neurosurgeon, and Dr. Mullins – his family physician. To all the staff in infusion and staff at ThedaCare in Neenah, you were all so wonderful to him during his care. Along with the emergency room staff at ThedaCare in Appleton.
