LaVerne Moran Obituary
LaVerne Oakes Moran age 71 of Rocky Mount passed away at her home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was born on June 30, 1952 a daughter of the late Kelly Willard and Evelyn Law Oakes. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Oakes; sister, Bernae Adams; father-in-law, Flemon Moran; mother-in-law, Dee Moran Kalmbach; her brothers-in-law, Butch Moran, Jeff Moran, and Michael Moran; nephew, Keith Emler.
LaVerne loved her family immensely, especially her husband of 39 years. She would tell you that he still gave her butterflies until she took her last breath. LaVerne's favorite saying was "the best is yet to come" and for her, "the best" was Heaven. While we will miss her in the worldly life, we know she is right where she belongs, and we will join her ourselves one day. LaVerne retired after many years of service as the Manager of the VA ABC Store #191 in Rocky Mount.
Our family would like to thank all of her doctors especially Dr. Keng (UVA) as well as the nurses at Carilion Home Health and Hospice.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Euell Moran; her son and daughter-in-law, Kelly Moran (Amber); her grandchildren, Sophia and Aubrie; sisters, Sheree Lawrence (Edward), Melissia Dillon (Todd); Sisters-in-law, Dana Moran, Vana McClanahan, and Pat Moran; her special nieces and nephew, Tonya Ramsey, Shelley Adams, and Brad Dillon; She is also survived by special friend, Joyce Dillon, and life-long friend, Cynthia Newman (Punky); also many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Flowers will be accepted or please consider memorial contributions in LaVerne's name to Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 75 Highfield Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Mr. Johnny Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
