Laverne Putnal

Mrs. Laverne Putnal, age 89, of Tifton, Georgia, passed away on April 26, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. She was born on February 16, 1936, in Nashville, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Luther Thomas Roland and the late Minnie Lee Rowan Roland. Mrs. Putnal lived in Nashville, Hahira, Adel, and the last fifteen years in Tifton. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Tifton and retired from Adel Banking Company where she ran the Sparks, Georgia, branch. Mrs. Putnal is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Heather Putnal of Tifton; her daughter and daughter's significant other, Carrie Putnal of Tifton and Clark Currie of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren: Sara and Chandler Pitts, Anna Putnal and Tyler Tomlinson, and Reed Putnal, all of Tifton; two great grandchildren: Cohen Pitts and Parker Pitts, both of Tifton. Other survivors include her Special Caregiver, Jewell Bishop, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her mother that raised her, Ora Mae Rowan Roland, who was her mother's sister and became a mother to Laverne after Minnie Lee's untimely death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen Putnal, and three siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday April 28, 2025, at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Her granddaughter, Anna Putnal will read the 23rd Psalm at the service and interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens (8879 Val-Del Road; Adel, GA). "Amazing Grace" and "I Can Only Imagine" will be played at the service. Chandler Pitts, Tyler Tomlinson, Tommy Purvis, Gunner Taylor, Hunner Taylor and Tunner Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday April 27, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home; 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel, Georgia. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Tifton First Methodist Church, 107 W. 12th St., Tifton, Georgia 31794 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
