Opelousas– A Graveside Service will be held for Laverne Thomason at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Laverne Thomason, a cherished pillar of the Opelousas community and a beloved friend to many, gracefully departed this world on October 1, 2025, at her residence in Opelousas. Born on September 19, 1927, in Dequincy, Louisiana, Laverne's life was a testament to dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
For an impressive 45 years, Laverne owned and operated the Merle Norman Studio, where her keen eye for beauty and knack for customer service allowed her to forge lasting connections with her clientele. Her studio became not just a business, but a gathering place filled with laughter, joy, and the warmth of her spirit. Laverne was also an integral part of many local business endeavors in Opelousas, always eager to lend her expertise and support to her fellow entrepreneurs. Through her work, she touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the community she loved.
Beyond her professional achievements, Laverne was immensely proud of her involvement with the Eastern Star, highlighting her deep belief in community, fellowship, and service to others. Her dedication to this organization was reflective of her generous heart and her desire to uplift those around her.
Laverne is survived by her granddaughter, Amy Laverne Guidroz of Opelousas; great-grandson, Seth Todd Guidroz of Opelousas.
Laverne is preceded in death by her husband, Beady Thomason; daughter, Kay Thomason; son-in-law, Denny Guidroz; and grandson, Todd Thomason Guidroz.
Laverne's legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and a deep love for her family and friends. In every encounter, she exuded a sense of grace that encouraged everyone to shine their own light. Her laughter and spirit will be dearly missed, yet her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
