H. Lavon Reinke, 91, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away on February 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 10, 1934, at Fairfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Oliver and Sadie (Kuhns) Johnson.
Lavon attended school in Glenvil, Nebraska, where she completed her 1st through 8th grades. On November 25, 1951, she married Lawrence Reinke at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of four children: Gene, Danny, Jennie, and Jay. In 1959, the family moved to Hebron, NE, where Lawrence started his own construction company.
Lavon was an avid hobbyist, enjoying activities such as sewing, embroidery, crocheting, playing cards and helping with the kids bible program "Jam" at the American Lutheran Church. She was always up for a challenge and found joy in a variety of pursuits. She loved attending Bible study in Hebron and had a passion for golf and bowling. Lavon also cherished her time spent at Lovewell State Park and Harlan County Reservoir, where she created many fond memories. Most recently Lavon loved spending time at Jeffery Lake and attending all Swede activities with her family.
She is survived by her sons: Gene Reinke of Hebron, NE; Danny (Lori) Reinke of Loveland, CO; and Jay Reinke (fiancé Michelle Rotter- Williamson) of Bennet, NE; and daughter, Jennie (Ernest) Rodriguez of Gothenburg, NE; Lavon was also blessed with nine grandchildren, Jayme Lopez of Virginia, Tiffany Reinke of Tonto Basin, AZ; Torrey (Julie) Reinke of Queen Creek, AZ; Ashely (Adam) Worobec of Seattle, WA; Aaron (Fiancé Natalie Pinkerton) Reinke of Seattle, WA; Dustin (Jordan) Ehlers, Jessa (Derek) Thompson and Dane (Fiancé Dana Reece) Ehlers all of Gothenburg, NE; Brandon (Elizabeth) Reinke of Hunter Army Airfield, GA; Quinten Reinke of Tempe, AZ; Alexzandria Rodriguez of Overton, NE; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence J.H. Reinke; her parents, Oliver and Sadie Johnson; her son-in-law, Steven Ehlers; and her great-grandson, Gus Lawrence Paul Thompson.
Following her wishes her body was donated to the University of Nebraska/Creighton University of Nebraska as a anatomical gift.
Celebration of Life service will be held, Friday, July 25, 2025, 2:00 pm, Jeffrey Lake Lodge, Brady, Nebraska. Family requests that you dress casual.
