Lavoncia Lynne “Vonnie” Wilson Scruggs, 64, of New Kensington, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born July 20, 1960 in Natrona Heights to M. Yvonne (Edwards) Wilson, of Tarentum and the late William R. Wilson. Vonnie lived most of her life in New Kensington and was of the Methodist faith. She was a 1979 graduate of Highlands High School and enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and puzzles.
Besides her mother, survivors include her siblings, Crystal L. (Wilson) Pope, of Fayetteville, GA, Karen L. Wilson, of Jonesboro, GA, Yvette L. Wilson-Thomas, of Riverdale, GA, Ivan A. White, of O’Hara Twp. and Faybenne L. (Jeff, LTC Retired) Gunn, of New Kensington. Also surviving is her best friend and care taker Tornado J. Johns, of New Kensington, Uncle Rudolph (Harriett) Edwards of Sarver, Aunt Florine (William) Hollins of Vandergrift, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11 AM in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum with Rev. Chester T. Howell, officiating. Burial will be private. VISIT: dusterfh.com
