George Lang Obituary

George M. Lang Jr., of West Deer Township, formerly of Tarentum, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford. He was born May 15, 1943, in Harrison Township to the late George M. and Nellie M. (Steffy) Lang Sr. George lived the past two years in West Deer Township and prior to that 30 years in Tarentum. He was a car salesman and a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. George was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Tarentum Moose, where he was past governor, and a member of the Tarentum VFW. George enjoyed antiquing, flea markets, yard sales, repairing clocks, and golf and was in numerous bowling leagues in the AK valley. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Janet M. (Gainor) Lang; children, Lynette (Roger) Henson, of Washburn, TN, and Michael Lang, of Apollo; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a stepson, Matthew (Kimberly) Daugherty, of Moon Township; and brother, Mayor Robert (Lori) Lang, of Tarentum. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Craig Lang; daughter, Michelle Lang; and siblings, Sandra Lang, Richard, and Edward Lang. All services for George will be private. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with military honors. Arrangements by DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. I always looked up to George because we was my oldest cousin. I babysat his kids when they were little. He was always kind to me and he was a joy to see at the family reunions. My mom & dad loved him like we was their own. RIP George. I love you.
