Lavonne Carol Lyons, 62, died on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by friends and family. Carol was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on January 17, 1963 to the Alva Douglas Lawrence and the late Danni Carol Rice Lawrence, and was raised in Georgetown by her father and her paternal grandparents. She graduated from Scott County High School and remained a lifelong Scott County resident. Carol was known as a great cook and even better gardener, both skills she began learning at an early age from her grandmother. Her special green thumb was known by everyone, as she raised flowers and sometimes vegetables. She was active and outgoing which proved to be strengths in her future. She went drag racing with her dad Doug when she was younger and later loved horseback riding, often taking trail rides with her closest friends and family.

Carol worked at Jim Beam in Frankfort during her career but her life's focus came with being a mother and a grandmother. Following the death of her daughter Ashley and unborn grandson Landon, Carol fought hard to preserve the memory of them and pushed for new legislation at the State and Federal levels. In the course of her fight, she met with leaders at every level government and was successful pressing for the passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004. Carol was a strong fighter to the end and never let her circumstances or cancer battle lesson her fortitude.

Carol will be remembered by her son, Chris (Tess King) Lyons; her stepdaughter, Candice Mullins; her dad, Doug Lawrence; her brothers, Jamie Peak, Billy Peak, David Peak; her sisters, Wendy Fay Danley, Donna Wright; her granddaughter, Payton Elizabeth Carey; her uncles, Dennis Lawrence, Jimmy Rice, Barry Rice; her aunt, Virginia Dunn; her friend like a sister, Pamela Casteel; and her faithful companion Jack Russell "Axl".

Carol was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mom; her daughter, Ashley Renee Lyons; her grandson, Landon Abner Lyons; her sister, Tina Peak; and her uncle, Larry Lawrence.

Visitation will be held at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 11:00 am until service time. The Funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm and Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Ryan Casteel, Chris Darnell, Anthony Washington, JC King, and Chris Lyons. Danny Casteel will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
