Lawrence McKinley Baker, 73 of Muskegon, MI passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. Lawrence was born on May 29, 1952 to McKinley and Margaret Baker both who preceded him in passing. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Smith on July 4, 1980. Lawrence was a loving, devoted father/grandfather to their daughter, Tmeko and granddaughter, Malaysia both of Charlotte, NC. Lawrence was a brother to Walter Baker of San Jose, CA. Lawrence graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. Lawrence found his vocation as a Master Builder and renovator of homes in the Muskegon area. Lawrence was active in the Muskegon community, participating on various boards and committees to address development and improvement of the community as one who "gives back" to the hometown. Lawrence's love of music, particularly jazz, was well-known. His more than extensive collection of "old school" records and current CDs was a testimony to that passion. Lawrence was a loving relative to a host of cousins, nieces and nephews of multiple generations. He brought sunlight and joy to all lives that he touched both relatives and friends. His amazing, great heart and spirt will be sorely missed.
