Lawrence 'Larry' Benstead Beale, age 73, resident of Mobile, AL was born on March 13th, 1953 and passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2025. He was a native of Buffalo, NY and lived most of his life in Mobile, AL. He dutifully served his country for 30 years in the United States Coast Guard and retired at the prestigious rank of Master Chief. His career in aviation would carry him to many far away lands across the globe such as the North Pole, South Pole, Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland, Panama Canal, South America, Houston, TX, Elizabeth City, NC and Oahu, HI.
After a long career as an Aviation Structure Mechanic and Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, he retired in 2001 from U.S.Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed tending to his property, meticulously maintaining vehicles, watching TV series, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry is preceded in death by; his father, Thomas Benstead Beale; and his mother Arlene Mae Beale.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deborah Ann Beale of 52 years; his three sons, Brian Benstead Beale of Erwin, TN, Jeremy Mark Beale of Adkins, TX and Keith Byron Beale of Elizabeth City, NC; three daughter-in-laws, Constance Beale (Brian) of Erwin, TN; Kristen Beale (Jeremy) of Adkins, TX, Kelly Beale (Keith) of Elizabeth City, NC; six grandsons, Blake King (Brian), Garrett Beale (Jeremy), Cameron Beale (Brian), Sterling Beale (Jeremy), Parker Beale (Keith), Cashton Beale (Jeremy); two granddaughters, Peyton Beale (Keith) and Tatum Beale (Jeremy); one great-granddaughter, Redding King and two great-grandsons, Pryor and Mitchell King; his sister, Sharon Savery and brother, Scott Beale along with several other relatives and dear friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Southern Cancer Center, Urology Associates, Pulmonary Associates, Mobile Heart Specialists, USA Mobile Diagnostics Center, Providence Hospital ICU as well as Saad Hospice for their caring and compassionate service. They were all a true blessing to Larry and the family.
Larry's funeral service will be held on August 20th, 2025 at 2 PM; at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Dave Walton of Meadowlake Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to service on August 20th, 2025 from 1PM to 2PM, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Brian Beale (Son), Jeremy Beale (Son), Keith Beale (Son), Scott Beale (Brother), Greg Barton (Brother-in-Law) and Todd McNorton (Brother-in-Law).
According to his wishes, for the beneficence of his church, Larry requested that in lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations in remembrance of him to Meadowlake Baptist Church. Donations can be sent to:
