Lawrence ""Larry"" Lee Beert, 86, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2025.

Larry was born in East Moline, Illinois, and in 1957 married the love of his life and best friend Judith (Judy) Ann Hesse at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Long Grove, Iowa. This past January, they celebrated 68 wonderful years together.

Larry was a Barber and worked at Wonder Bread in his early years. In 1976, they moved to Mesa, AZ where he eventually retired from his occupation with the Mesa Public School District where he touched the lives of countless children.

Larry and Judy shared a love of golf – especially with his brothers and their wives. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing and teaching pickleball, they traveled all the 50 states and explored destinations around the world. He had a beautiful voice and a gift for whistling a good tune.

Larry was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, trademark smirk, and infectious laugh – qualities that will be deeply missed. Above all, Larry valued family, and he was deeply loved in return.

Larry was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan, who followed all of the Iowa sports.

Larry is survived by his wife Judy; Daughters: Vicki (Patrick) Woodworth, Marci (Tom) Valicenti, Jodi (Ted) Beert-Cwynar, Traci (Barry) Jones and Tami (Donnie) Rich; Grandchildren Ryan (Melissa) Woodworth, Brett (Denise) Woodworth, Zach (Shelby) Valicenti, Christi (Alex) Corrigan, Brianna (Logan) Bruun, Bryden Jones, Jesseca (Rob) Smith and Kyle Tucker; Great-grandchildren: Jordana Woodworth, Liam Woodworth, Stella Woodworth, LJ Bruun, Attia Smith, Damon Smith, Zoe Smith, Kade Smith and Adelynn Tucker; his brother Richard Beert and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Mary Marcella Beert; sister, Mary Darlene Speth; brother, Robert Beert; sisters-in-law Barbara (Richard) Beert and Dorothy (Robert) Beert.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, any memorials can be made in memory of Lawrence Beert, to Joni and Friends Arizona, a non-profit organization that offers multiple unique and inspiring programs that build hope and dignity to individuals with a disability.

Scott and I always enjoyed the time we got to spend with Uncle Larry and Aunt Judy during our visits to AZ. He always had great stories to share and was a master of pickleball with his quick hands. We also enjoyed playing slingo and I always chuckled when he called me Wendy...thanks for all the memories. Until we meet again...

I always enjoyed golfing with Uncle Larry never a dull moment. He always had a joke ready for ya and I´ll never forget when they tossed fireworks over Terry´s fence and lit the field on fire! We were grabbing buckets of water to put it out. Grateful I got to see him during my military service in San Antonio as he was visiting his family! You´re missed Uncle Larry but not forgotten!
