Lawrence Bertucci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hays Funeral Home - Northborough on Nov. 2, 2025.
Millbury
On October 28, 2025, Lawrence E. Bertucci passed away peacefully at his home in Millbury Massachusetts after a brave and enduring battle with cancer. Larry, as he was known by all, was only 69 years old. He leaves behind two children and three grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
Larry was a true craftsman at heart. As a carpenter, he spent his life working with his hands, improving buildings with his craftsmanship and helping neighbors with projects whenever he got the chance. He was always quick to volunteer his expert time to his friends and family. He took real pride and joy from a job well done, even if it was something as simple as hanging a picture frame or something as difficult as roofing a house on a hot summer day.
Born in Beverly, Massachusetts on March 17, 1956, Larry was the son of George C. And Gertrude L. (Foster) Bertucci. He grew up in Beverly and graduated from Claude H. Patten Trade School out of Beverly High School, where he developed his love for football, soccer, and carpentry. Even as a teenager, he was already starting on his lifelong career of carpentry, bringing home tables and cabinets that he proudly built himself.
His first job out of high school was at United Shoe, a place he would return to later in life after it became the Cummings Center–the company he would eventually retire from after more than twenty years. Over the course of his career, Larry worked on many well-known projects, including the Middlesex Superior Courthouse in Woburn, and New Horizons in Marlborough. He took great pride and satisfaction in seeing his work stand tall and proud for others to enjoy and would often take friends and family on a driving tour of the beautiful homes he helped build all along the North Shore.
Larry loved the outdoors, and fishing was one of his greatest joys. In his younger years, you could find him canoeing down quiet creeks, and later in life, he spent peaceful afternoons by the pond of the Marlborough Fish and Game club. He loved the simple rhythm of casting a line, waiting, and reeling in his catch-always releasing the fish back into the water after enjoying the moment. Fishing taught him how rewarding patience can be, a value he made sure to pass on to his children.
As a father, Larry showed his love by the time he spent with his children. No matter what, he was ready to make himself available, and he especially loved to help out with sports. He always had advice to give and would take time out to coach little league games, attend practices, or cheer on from the sidelines. But it wasn't just sports, Larry always wanted to engage with his sons' interests and was often the one to introduce a new game or lifelong hobby to them. He loved sharing his interests and took joy from teaching his children new skills.
Larry is survived by his two sons, Glenn and his wife Samantha and Jeff and his husband Elliot; three grandchildren, Andrew, Macy, and Delilah-all who brought him endless joy. Larry is also survived by his former wife and longtime friend Janet Ackley; his siblings: Kathleen (Ben), Sandy, Kathy (Joe), Patty (Tim), and Jimmy (Mary) and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he was very fond of. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ken.
A private service and interment will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, Larry's family respectfully request memorial donations be directed to the American Cancer Society in Larry's memory.
Arrangements have been under the care of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532. To leave an online condolence or word of support for Larry's family, please visit www.HaysFuneralHome.com.
