Lawrence Broussard was born on April 12, 1925, to the late Philbert Broussard and Eva Mire Broussard in Leroy, LA. He entered his final rest on the afternoon of Monday, March 31, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Lawrence passed away just 12 days before his 100th birthday. A proud Army veteran of World War Il, he served his country with honor. He had a deep love for gardening and hunting and found great joy in working on his farm, where he raised his family. He lived a simple yet fulfilling life, devoted to his children and those he loved. When we reflect on his life, we remember him as one of the best fathers anyone could ask for-kind, hardworking, and devoted. He was also a loving husband to Florene and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for his family was boundless, and he will be deeply missed.
Lawrence leaves behind a lasting legacy. He was married to his beloved wife, Florene, for 60 years. He is survived by his eight children: William (Melissa) Broussard, Willy (Norma) Broussard, Mary (Clyde) Boullion, Wally Broussard, Mary Jane (Zeke) Hooper, Wayne Broussard, Angela (Paul) Martin, and Willis Paul Broussard. He is also survived by his brother, Dalton Broussard, and his sister, Bonnie Bourgeois, along with 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He is now reunited in heaven with his wife Florene, parents, Philbert and Eva, as well as his brothers Claybert, John, Hector, Alton, and Leroy, and his sisters Zula, Gladys, and Eunice.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rodriguez and the nurses and staff at Our Lady of Lourdes for their compassionate care. Your many acts of kindness did not go unnoticed, and we are forever grateful.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Family Life Church, located at 2223 Dulles Dr, Lafayette, LA 70506, with Pastor Todd Menard officiating.
