Lawrence "Larry" Bybee, 67, of Kansas City, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2025.
He was born on September 7, 1958, in Kansas City to Gene and Rose Bybee. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose love for his family and those close to him was evident in everything he did.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Bybee; his children, Mary (Michael) Detherage and Emily Bybee; and his grandchildren, Mariah (Rodney) Butler, Morghan McGhee, MaKailee McGhee, TJ McGhee, Malachi Bybee, and Jordan Detherage. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Meilani Leon and Maliza Butler; his brother, Dennis (Paula) Bybee; his sister, Kathleen (Brian) Basham; his niece, Holly Bybee; his aunt, Honey Michael; and many other beloved cousins, family members, and friends.
Larry retired from Metro Park Warehouse after more than 40 years and proudly served as a member of the Local 838 Teamsters Union.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generous spirit, and willingness to do anything for anyone, never hesitating to step in and help when needed. He was blessed with an incredibly loving heart, often disguised by his playful grumpiness. Larry had a passion for darts and cherished the friendships he built through the game. He especially looked forward to his annual trips to Las Vegas to compete and spend time with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 11, 2025, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at Riverview Event Space, 804 Woodswether Rd., Kansas City, MO 64105. Casual attire is encouraged.
Larry's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
