My thoughts & condolences go out to Mr. Coughlin´s wife, sons, grandchildren, and friends. Mr. Coughlin was my art teacher at O´Hara from 1973-1975. (See photo of our `Senior´ art class displaying our finished mural for O´Hara´s Commons area.) Mr. Coughlin was a great art teacher, and would take time to listen to his students. We also enjoyed listening to him talk about just some of his life stories ... he definitely led an interesting life! God bless you, Mr. Coughlin ... you won´t be forgotten.

Absolutely one of the most interesting individuals I had met in my lifetime and as a student I knew nothing about him except for the fact that his art class was like spending an hour at a cafe listening to classical music. Strangely he brought out the best in his students without requiring it of them. You just felt comfortable being creative. Thank you Joe and your gift to humanity.

Mr Coughlin, fondly called `Coach´, was my favorite teacher at O´Hara. I have often recounted stories of how he shaped my love of Art and Literature to friends and family. I had no idea about his personal life, and now blown away! I wish I could have known him better while I had the opportunity!

I´m so sorry for your loss. He was my art teacher at O´Hara High School. He was a wonderful teacher. May he rest in peace.
