Sally Coughlin Obituary
Sally Coughlin, 85, was welcomed home to be with our Lord and Savior on September 10, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family. Sally was reunited in heaven with her husband of 36 years, the love of her life, Bob Coughlin; her mother and father; and sister Joanne Chelekis (John).
Sally was born on September 19, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri to her parents Alice and Hadsell Stone Easton. She was raised in Rocky River, Ohio and graduated in 1957. She went to her dream school, The Ohio State University, and obtained her Bachelor of Education in 1961. Sally was a very proud member of the Delta Gamma sorority where she served as secretary and made lifelong friends. After graduating, she taught school for a short time in Philadelphia before starting her family and moving back to northeast Ohio. She changed course for a time and took a position as an office manager for Dr. Phil Blitz, a local family practice physician. Sally then worked as a secretary for Bob Coughlin at his company, Coughlin Electric. Bob and Sally have known each other since high school and their deep friendship grew into love. They were married on August 12, 1988. While still working, Sally decided to go back to college to earn additional credits to return to her love of teaching. She was so excited to teach 3rd grade at Harrison Elementary School in Lakewood until her retirement in 2006. Sally was a deeply respected educator by her peers and adored by her students. One of her most proud accomplishments was receiving the Teacher of the Year award several times. Sally also was a member of the College Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Throughout all her different career adventures, she developed wonderful relationships that she treasures to this day.
Sally's family and friends were her everything, especially her grandchildren. Her and Bob loved to entertain and hosted many wonderful parties and holidays in their beautiful home. Everyone was welcome there and all could feel the love within the walls. Sally's favorite things to do was to be with her husband Bob, visiting with her friends, and spending time with family. Huntington Beach, "Princess Park", walking in the valley and ice cream runs also made the top of the list.
Sally's deep faith and love for Jesus guided every aspect of her life to be His hands and feet. She was a faithful servant in many ways, ministering to her family, friends and anyone who God placed in her path. She was a member of Moms in Prayer, Village Project and in a Koinonia "K" Group for over 30 years where she and her husband developed friendships that became family. She served as a Deacon, a Stephen Minister, a Marriage Minister, on the Convalescent Care Team and participated in numerous bible study groups over the years. Sally obeyed God's call to share the gospel through listening, comforting and teaching Jesus' word which led many acquaintances, friends and family members to Christ.
Sally is survived by her loving children, Steve Adams (Lisa), Michelle Ridgley (Eric), Michael Jablonski (Vicky), David Jablonski (Sarah), Debbie Drake (Glenn), Bob Coughlin, Jr. (Lisa), Nancy Reynolds (the late David), Patrick Coughlin (Robin); cherished grandchildren Alexandria (Greg), Sophia, Emmett, Danielle (Gary), Jacob, Samantha, Robert (deceased), Evan, Stephanie (Justin), Bob III (Kayla), Joe (Kaitlyn), Destiny (Steve), Matthew, Ashley (Jaret), Erika (Miguel), Rachel and Tyler; and precious great-grandchildren, Melanie, Jack, Lily, Nora, Andrew, Aiden, Alex, Addison, Zoey, Derrick, Benjamin, Paige, Emmett, Parker, Hazel, and Colton.
