Larry Donahue, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 18, 1954, in Philadelphia, and spent his formative years in Southwest Philadelphia and Drexel Hill.
Larry had a successful career in IT and later in life pursued higher education at Boston University, receiving his bachelor's degree. After retiring seven years ago, he embarked on a new journey, discovering a profound passion for the visual arts. His paintings captivated many as well as his daily "Guess the Sketch" on social media, where he delighted followers with portraits of famous figures on their birthdays. His artistic endeavors extended further as he authored a book celebrating his family's cherished memories and loved documenting life through his keen eye for photography and videography.
Music was another outlet for Larry's creativity, beginning with learning piano, guitar, and saxophone. He expressed himself through writing, recording, and performing music, both in bands and as a solo artist known as "Pluck".
A devoted family man, Larry found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Albanie, Everly, Richard, Samuel, Isla, and Sophia. His annual baseball barbecues became a hallmark of family gatherings, fostering laughter and bonds across generations.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in his devoted wife of 34 years, Hilary; his children, Nicole (Jeffrey) Doyle, Richard (Ashley) Donahue, Haley Donahue (Adrian Theodor), and Julia Donahue; his cherished grandchildren; three brothers, three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as an honest, helpful, kind, and hilarious man whose presence brought joy to all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:00am at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery 1600 Sproul Road Springfield, PA 19064. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory may be made to Catholic Charities, reflecting his lifelong commitment to kindness and compassion. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
