Lawrence Kevin Edwards "LA" was born June 18, 1956, in Battle Creek, Michigan to the union of Willie and Jackie Edwards-Latham. Larry received his call from the Our Heavenly Father on December 6, 2024, at the age of 68.
Larry graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1974, where he was an All-Star basketball player. Larry did not want to play Junior basketball, when he started high school, he wanted the big time to be on the varsity team. But Larry was only a sophomore, and he was determined to get on the varsity team. Not only did he make the team, but he was one of the starting five. During his years in high school Larry won multiple basketball titles and awards.
Larry went on to enlist in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. Larry then went on to have a career at Post Cereal, where he retired after 25 years. He loved listening to music and the louder the better. He was known for being a low rider, cruising at speeds of no more than 5 mph.
Larry loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing sports and always making you feel good.
Larry married the love of his life, Deborah Wynne and they were blessed with three children during this union. Their first-born, Keysha Wynne, Lawrence Jr., and his youngest son, Tony Wynne.
Larry survives with his mother, Jackie (Joel) Latham; his children, Keysha Wynne, Lawrence (Angel) Wynne and Tony Wynne; four grandchildren, Drequan Newson, Romello McGee, Armani Poindexter, and Amya Poindexter; brothers, Michael Edwards, Lonnie Edwards, Tyrone Edwards and Willie Edwards Jr (MN); sisters, Wilma Edwards, Jayne (Earl) Atchison, Tammi (Albert) Cook (IN), Jackie (Kelly) Evans (AZ), Sabrina Edwards (MN) and Roena Sawyer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father, Willie C. Edwards; his grandparents, Dan and Arzola Edwards, James and Thelma Humphrey; sisters, Patricia Griffis, Janet Edwards; sister-in-law, Glendora Whitt Edwards; niece, Kimberly Wilkins; nephews, Lonnie Edwards, and Angelo Griffis.
A graveside service for Larry will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on December 17, 2024, at 1:30 pm. A celebration of life for LA is to be held June 21, 2025.
