Lawrence is a graduate from the University of Detroit, and was a catcher on their D1 baseball team. A retiree from Ford Motor Company in marketing and sales, Lawrence also worked for the Buffalo Courier Express and Waste Management. In 1984, Lawrence was ordained a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church. He served five parishes faithfully for over 40 years and was involved in many renewal movements. A gifted orator, Lawrence taught homiletics at Christ the King Seminary and led many men to be ordained to the permanent diaconate. He brought bible study to prisons and was a fundraiser for St. Luke's Mission of Mercy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, 325 Walden Ave., Buffalo, NY 14211.
