Lawrence E. Hanna, affectionately known as Larry, was born on August 5, 1942, in Somerville, New Jersey. He passed away on November 13, 2025, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
Larry was a dedicated member of his community throughout his life, residing in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, until his recent move to Fountain Hill in 2024. He made significant contributions to the region, showcasing his skills in lawn tractor repair at Lofts Seed Company in Bound Brook, as well as at Somerset Lawn and Garden Center. He later worked for Wilson Products in Neshanic, New Jersey. His dedication to his craft resonated with many and earned him the respect of his peers and customers alike.
A proud US Army veteran, Larry served from 1964 to 1966 before continuing his service with the New Jersey National Guard. This discipline and commitment were hallmarks of his character. He was also an active participant in various community organizations, including the Three Bridges Reformed Church, the East Amwell Senior Citizens, and both the Grandview of Flemington and the Stanton Grange in New Jersey.
Larry’s warm spirit shone brightly in many roles. He was a beloved ticket-taker at Turn 3 at the former Flemington Speedway, where his engaging personality and passion for racing endeared him to many fans. He also had a rich personal life filled with hobbies and interests. Larry was an avid gardener, a lover of race cars, and an enthusiast of model trains, all of which brought him immense joy and fulfillment. His family particularly treasured the way he transformed every holiday into a special occasion, going above and beyond with decorations that delighted everyone who attended.
Larry is survived by his two nieces, Kimmy and Megan, his nephew Kyle, and his great-niece, Everleigh, and great-nephew, Merrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Gertrude (Miller) Hanna, along with his sisters Lois and Barbara, and brother William, all who passed away in 2020.
A viewing for Larry will take place on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, located at 147 Main St, Flemington, NJ. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ryan Nace, will follow starting at 2:00 PM also in the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest in the family plot at Cherryville Mountainview Cemetery, Cherryville, NJ.
Larry E. Hanna will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
