Lawrence "Larry" Hartman

Lawrence "Larry" Hartman passed away peacefully at Midland Hospice House on February 10, 2025.
The family is eternally grateful to the Midland Hospice House staff for the excellent and compassionate care given to Larry and his entire family.
Larry was born to Joseph and Regina Hartman on March 8, 1942. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James (Wanda), Robert (Joyce), Richard, and Donald (Marilyn); and one sister, Margaret Stattelman (John). He is survived by sisters-in-law, Joyce and Marilyn, and brother-in-law, John.
Larry married Sandra "Sandy" Sloan on June 13, 1964. They have two wonderful, caring sons, Brian (Gwen) and Thad (Christi), and two cherished grandchildren, Claire (Mitchell) Junkins and Max Hartman.
Larry worked for 33 years for the ATSF Railroad (BNSF) and later for Kansas Grain Inspection. He was also a handyman and a jack-of-all-trades.
Larry most enjoyed traveling with Sandy and his family, and spending quality time with his children and extended family. He especially loved attending social events in his wonderful neighborhood, playing dominos with friends, and his weekly Wednesday trips to the casino with his neighborhood friends.
Larry bravely fought a long battle with cancer and, in recent years, Parkinson's disease. He credited his longevity to Dr. Caracioni of St. Francis. Larry never lost his optimistic attitude and was willing to undergo all necessary treatments.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. A Celebration of Life will be at 12 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 6800 SW 10th Ave., Topeka KS 66615. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Midland Hospice House, sent in care of the funeral home.
