It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence L. Hoffman Jr., lovingly known as Larry, who departed this life on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on August 27, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Gertrude K. "Trudy" (nee Laake) and the late Lawrence L. Hoffman, Sr. Larry dedicated his life to his family and community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his devoted sons, Craig (Julie) Hoffman, Mark (Shannon) Hoffman, Brad (Ruthie) Hoffman and David (Sarah) Hoffman, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Grace, Ryan, Audrey, Bella, Trent, Noah, Kellen, Adelyn, Emily, and Jacob. He is also survived by his brothers, Ken (Mary) Hoffman, Doug Hoffman, and Dan (Debbie) Hoffman, and was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Kay (Dale) Merz and Chuck (Ramona) Hoffman. In addition to his immediate family, Larry leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Larry devoted his professional life to serving as a Systems Analyst at the University of Cincinnati, where his expertise and dedication made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the students he served. His remarkable career was a testament to his exceptional work ethic and passion for technology, as he embraced the challenges of his role with grace and determination.
A passionate coach, Larry shared his love for sports by coaching his sons' baseball and soccer teams. He was an enthusiastic chess player and volunteered at local schools, teaching and coaching teams to enjoy the strategic game he loved. A lifelong parishioner of St. Ann's, he actively engaged with his church community through various roles, from assisting with the parish festival to serving on the parish council and singing in the choir. Larry was also a voracious reader, frequently seen with a stack of over ten books on loan from the Groesbeck Library, a testament to his insatiable thirst for knowledge and stories.
He proudly supported the institutions that shaped him, remaining a loyal Lancer and Bearcat throughout his life.
Visitation for Larry will take place on Friday (August 15) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ann Church on Saturday (August 16) at 9:30 a.m., where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to LaSalle High School in honor of Larry's enduring spirit of giving back to the community. As we remember Larry, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

I mostly remember Larry from Groesbeck Soccer. He was a great member of the organization and a super coach! He gave a lot in both areas and the kids and members were very appreciative! I also knew Larry from St. Ann´s where is was a very active member and could always be counted upon whether it be sports, the carnival. Parish council and especially the Choir. He was an all around great guy and a wonderful Father to his kids. May he rest in peace and may God Bless his family and help them through this difficult time.

Larry always supported my sons over the years. This picture was taken when there was a Red's Trivia Fundraiser night so Jeremy could go on a trip to Pittsburgh PA with the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League that Jeremy played for to play Sean Casey's miracle league. Cousin Larry even had George Foster sign a baseball card that night & gave it to Jeremy. Our team didn't win that night but we sure did have fun trying. Cousin Larry came to a few of Jeremy's softball games at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields & even came to Joey's 2nd birthday party. Thank You, Larry, for supporting adults & youths with disabilities. You will be missed.
