Shirley A. Dearinger, a spirited and loving grandmother, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on March 11, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Shirley spent her life spreading joy and laughter to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A dedicated cafeteria worker for Mt. Healthy Schools, Shirley was known for walking to work with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. Her passion for nourishing not just bodies but souls was evident through her infectious laughter and her ability to tell a good story. A proud member of the Corpus Christi Prayer Group, Shirley's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Even during her last months in skilled nursing care, she could be heard joyfully singing "Alleluia" as she brightened the halls with her vibrant spirit.
Shirley had a zest for life that was unmistakable. She loved her coffee just right-two creamers and four sugars, please! Along with chocolate malt milkshakes, LaRosa's pizza, and, of course, elephants. She was a hat enthusiast, often seen wearing one of her beloved collections, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of the Andy Griffith Show and the Red Skelton Show. Her favorite color was blue, a reflection of her cheerful and calm presence.
Shirley is survived by her beloved grandchild, Samuel Dearinger. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elsie Rolfes, her beloved husband, Eddie Dearinger, and son Greg Dearinger.
A private memorial service will be held to remember her life.
Let us celebrate Shirley's remarkable life, honoring her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. She will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
