Lawrence A. Nielsen best known as Poppy, passed into the arms of Jesus Friday, July 18, 2025, at the age of 84.

He was born on September 22, 1940, to the late Thorwald and E. Maude (Jackman) Nielsen. He graduated from Corry High School in 1958.

Larry was drafted and served in the United States Army stationed in Hawaii from 1963 until 1965. He met the love of his life Bonnie A. Lindsey and they were married on October 2, 1968. They were married 54 years, until the time of her death in 2023. He excelled at everything he did from being a husband, father, Poppy, Great-Poppy, Jack-of-all Trades, and a stellar truck driver. His career spanned many decades driving for Duane Troyer, Cornish Lumber Company, NBS Trucking, Buckler Transport and J. R. Kay's Trucking to name a few. He finally retired at 73 to spend his time at home with his wife and family.

Larry is survived by his four children, Gerald (Janet) Nielsen of Cranesville, PA, Lauretta (Craig) Sutherland of Columbus, PA, Kristin (Simon) Steff of Columbus, PA, and Julie Godwin of Phoenix, AZ, twelve grandchildren: Malea (David), Morgan, Mackenzie, Michelle (Mitch), Cheyenne, Trevor, Atticus, Elijah, Isa, Trinity, Kaleb and Karsten and four great-grandchildren: Damion, Oliver, Lillie and Xavier.

He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents and wife as well as a brother Frank Wickwire and a sister Betty Mosher.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined.
