Lawrence "Larry" William Pfiefer

Lawrence W. Pfiefer, 83, of Hayfield passed away on November 11, 2024.

Lawrence William Pfiefer was born in Hayfield, Minnesota on October 6, 1941 to August Lawrence and Elizabeth (Prokopec) Pfiefer. He was the third of 6 children.

Lawrence grew up and lived on the family farm in Hayfield his entire life. He attended country school and then Hayfield High School, where he played football. He helped on the farm milking cows, caring for lambs and doing field work. He graduated in 1960.

On November 4, 1961, he married Patrica Newell at Sacred Heart Church in Hayfield. When they were first married, he worked in maintenance at the Kahler Hotel in Owatonna. In the 70's, before he became a chef, Patricia and Larry had a janitorial service. They cleaned restaurants, offices and a bar in Rochester, Minnesota. He was a chef at Madonna Towers. He also worked for Rochester Brick.

Larry loved doing yard work and gardening, traveling, hunting and being with family.

Larry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; children Deborah (Mike) Meyers and Alan (Teresa) Pfiefer; four grandchildren, Lacy (Kyle) Hinkle, Kyle (Holly) Meyers, Lora (Justin) Konze and Haley Pfiefer; seven great grandchildren, Keely, Elsie, and Decker Hinkle, Henry and Geneva Meyers, Barrett and Bellamy Konze; five siblings, Deloris Snyder, John (MaryAnne) Pfiefer, Mary Jane (Larry) Hansen, Lois (Duane) Klocke, and Carol (Mike) DeSmet; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Robert Scharberg and Urban Snyder; nephew David Scharberg; and niece Donna Snyder.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church, 150 2nd Street NE, Hayfield, MN 55940. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
