Lawrence "Larry" Roy Marantette, 75, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Friday, June 27, 2025, at home and surrounded by his family.

Larry was born Nov. 19, 1949, in Detroit. He was raised in Grosse Pointe. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol (nee Couzens); children, Maryann Listman (Robert), Larry Jr., Paul (Christina) and Peter (Carmen); and cherished grandchildren, Alexandria, Colin, Theodore and Pia. He also is survived by his brothers, Thomas (Bonnie) and Carter (Kathy), along with a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Mary Lou and David; sister, Ann, and brother, David.

Larry was a proud graduate of University of Detroit Jesuit High School. He attended Georgetown University, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in economics. As a student, he was a dedicated member of the Georgetown Crew Team, serving as coxswain for the varsity squad as well as being asked to join the U.S. National Team. He later earned an MBA in finance from the University of Michigan.

Larry was a lifelong advocate and visionary for the people and communities of the city of Detroit, serving through a variety of organizations, including ANR Pipeline, as the founding president and CEO of the Greater Downtown Partnership and principal of Taktix Solutions. Larry also served on the board of directors at the Detroit Athletic Club and was active with United Way, Detroit Regional Chamber and The 100 Club.

Larry treasured spending time with Carol, talking about his kids' accomplishments and sharing the latest updates about his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with the family in Harbor Springs, as well as hosting Sunday dinners.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack, Grosse Pointe Park, with a rosary at 7 p.m. He will lie instate at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, until the funeral Mass at 12 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church, 438 St. Antoine, Detroit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: University of Detroit Jesuit High School and University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
