Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chas. Verheyden, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Grosse Pointe on Mar. 6, 2026.
George R. Malbouef, a beloved educator, entrepreneur, author, and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at the age of 79.

George was born on November 27, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Suzanne Malbouef.

He married the love of his life, Ruth (Jagger), with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Together they built a family that was his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter, Monica (Christopher) Mourad, and son, Todd (Emily); his cherished grandchildren, CJ, Claire, Michael, Mae, and Sophie; his sisters, Jeanne, Fran, Josetta, Rose, and Mary; and his brother, Tom. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Suzanne Malbouef; his sisters, Judy El-Fakir and Elaine Blender; and his brother, Joseph Malbouef.

Some of George's happiest moments were spent gathered around the family pool, grilling with a glass of wine in hand, telling jokes, sharing stories, and making memories with those he loved most.

George studied Education at Wayne State University and went on to spend more than three decades shaping young minds in the classroom. His dedication, wit, and passion for teaching inspired countless students throughout his career.

In addition to his work in education, George successfully owned and operated two businesses. Later in life, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing a children's book.

An avid reader who rarely went anywhere without a book within arm's reach, George also served his community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He had a deep love for the French language and enjoyed speaking it whenever the opportunity arose.

George had an unmatched sense of humor and a remarkable ability to bring laughter to any room he entered. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

George's legacy is one of joy, education, and love. He will be deeply missed, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, students, and all whose lives he touched.

Visitation for George will take place on Monday, March 9 from 4pm to 8pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. He will lie instate on Tuesday, March 10 from 10 am until the time of his funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Clare of Montefalco, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park.
