Lawrence Mouty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home on Jul. 8, 2024.
Lawrence Joseph Mouty, passed away on July 3, 2024 at Allouez Parkside Village in Green Bay. Born in Kewaunee, WI on January 7, 1934 to Sylvester and Mabel (Fritz) Mouty, he attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and graduated from Kewaunee High School Class of 1952. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954-1956 as a surveyor. He married his long-time friend and classmate, the former Janet Gabriel on August 10, 1957. Larry graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering in 1959. Upon graduation they moved to Marinette, WI, where he took a position as a Structural Engineer at Unit Structures in Peshtigo. He and Janet moved to Peshtigo in the fall of 1964. Eventually, Larry started his own business, Mouty Engineering, where he was the owner and chief engineer until he retired. He was proficient at designing and drafting of many homes in Peshtigo, including the mayor's home, the family home in Peshtigo and the family cabin on White Potato Lake.
Larry was a former member of the Peshtigo Lions Club and American Society of Civil Engineers. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gun collecting, partnering and helping his late wife, Janet, with her needle point and crochet artwork framing them to display in the family home and cabin as well as her many quilting projects. Larry had a wonderful sense of humor that was often peppered with snarky one-liners and thoroughly enjoyed making family and friends at the cabin laugh.
Larry is survived by his four children: Steven (Wanda Behling) of Sandy, UT, Mark (Kristin) Mouty of Park City, UT, Rene Mouty of Green Bay, and Brian (Kim) Mouty of Littleton, CO; and three grandsons, Nathaniel Giannunzio, Race and Cade Mouty, sister, Judith Bodi of Madison, WI, brother-in-law, Donald (Marcia) Gabriel of Charlotte, NC, sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Gabriel of Naperville, IL, Roberta Mouty of Montgomery, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet, of 64 years; one brother, Richard Mouty; brother-in-law James Bodi and brother-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Gabriel.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Allouez Parkside Village for their wonderful care and support for Larry as well as for the family during his stay there. Special thanks to long-time friend from church, Linda Nogalski, Peshtigo, for her visits to Larry and for supporting the family when needed.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 10:00 a.m. until time of Catholic mass at noon with Fr. John Harper and Fr. Edmundo Siguenza co-celebrating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kewaunee with military honors.

My sincere sympathy to Larry's family and friends. I enjoyed working with Larry at Unit Structures in the early 60's. Truly a nice fellow....always polite, friendly and willing to help. He was a pleasure to know. So sorry to hear he is gone. Prayers for Larry.
